Prototype of a game I'm proud of but lost interest in. Just a test environment for the mechanics and no actual gameplay.

Controls:

Child

WASD Movement

Spacebar - interact [when prompted]

Firefly

Cursor Movement. Firefly follows cursor.

Click - 'Photon Burst' [1 second cooldown]. Temporary balls of light emitted radially to damage shadows.

Spawn Controls

1 - Shadow swarm. An 'easy mob'.

2 - Shadow entity. A 'grunt'.

3 - Shadow person. A 'boss'.

4 - Shadow wall. An obstacle. Simply to stop light from reaching the child and make navigating the room more interesting. High health and long timer so it's impractical to use light against it.

5 - Amethyst. Can be picked up. When put down (using spacebar), it stays for 5 seconds before disappearing. On each second, it will banish all shadows within an area around it.

How to Play:

The goal of the game would have been to keep the child sane. Fear increases insanity - basically this game's version of hp. When insanity reaches a threshold, the child dies - taken back to menu screen.

Causes of fear:

Darkness - the firefly is too far away or something gets between them - the child will become fearful, indicated by heavy breathing.

Shadows are close to the child.

To improve sanity, just keep firefly very close to the child.
